EmpowHER 2018 Changemakers

 

Agma Malakar is one of the changemakers of EmpowHER 2018. Her project, MyHealth App is an electronic journal to store patient’s health information. It will serve as a centralised application for both hospitals and users.

 

 

 

 

Alita Shrestha is one of the changemakers of EmpowHER 2018. Her project, ACT (Art, Color and Technology) aims to reduce wastage of cost, resources and time in sampling process through use of a smart phone application. The app, Color Your Pashmina, will allow users to customize colors of sample photo and visualize the final product. The project targets to reach 30 Pashmina Industries of Kathmandu valley within a year so that they don’t have to go through tedious process of sampling for each new color combination. Binita Poudel is one of the changemakers of EmpowHER 2018. Her project Abhishmaran aims to help 25 women of Makwanpur in their economic independence by training them to use Charkha (spinning wheel) and selling the product – self made thread to the industries.

 

 

 

Januka KC is one of the changemakers of EmpowHER 2018. Her project, Happy mind is an awareness campaign on psychological and behavioral disorder like compulsive hair pulling, compulsive nail biting collectively known as body focused repetitive behavior (BFRBs) in schools of Kathmandu valley, among students of age group 13-16 years old.It aims to end the suffering, shame and stigma caused by such behavioral problem by conducting a two hour interactive session in schools on  BFRBs, stress coping strategies, self-awareness and creative DIY activities. 

 

 

Laxmi Tamang is one of the changemakers of EmpowHER 2018. Her project, Women Empowerment aims to economically empower 25-40 women of Gokarna by teaching them jewellery making, embroidery and selling their products. Read more about Laxmi’s effort. 

 

 

 

Monika Kunwar is one of the changemakers of EmpowHER 2018. Her project, craft aims to train 20 home staying women from Kapan to make Nepali ornaments. The project will help them earn an estimated Rs.10,000 per month which will empower them financially. Read more about Monika’s effort.

 

 

 

Parwati Shrestha is one of the changemakers of EmpowHER 2018. Her project, Bridge is a comprehensive sensitization campaign for 20 visually impaired women of 20-30 age group, to provide proper information about present policies and provisions related to employment opportunities and connect them to Stakeholders.

 

 

Sadikshya Aryal is one of the changemakers of EmpowHER 2018. Her project, Gaaubata aims to provide visibility to the products from the village. It is an e-commerce platform for selling the artisanal and agro-products from the villages of Nepal.

 

 

 

Sambridhi Rayamajhi is one of the changemakers of EmpowHER 2018. Her project, Grihini Project Grihini aims to utilize the local skills of women by producing pickles which will help them utilize their leisure period, provide them with employment and make them economically stable. Sarita Singh is one of the changemakers of EmpowHER 2018. Her project, Suraksha aims to manufacture biodegradable sanitary pads made up of wood pulp fibre that decomposes within 6 months of disposal. The project targets to reach girls and women of Ward no. 13, 14 and 15 of Lalitpur district within a year so that they are provided with a choice of sustainable way to deal with their menstruation. Shraddha Rai is one of the changemakers of EmpowHER 2018. Her project, My Farm, My Plan is a project about empowering the lives of 20 female farmers of Suryabinayak, Ward No. 7 through Contract Farming. The project aims to provide awareness regarding gender inequalities in the farming sector, provide training to build the capacity of female farmers and connect them to the firms to increase agricultural productivity and empower their lives economicall Read more about Shraddha’s effort.

 

 

Sindhu Thapa is one of the changemakers of EmpowHER 2018. Her project, Prarambha works for the people with mental disability of age group from 25-55, targeting 20 people of the daycare centres of Ashadeep Maryknoll Nepal located at Katunje, Bhaktapur and Chandol to help them sustain economically by selling the handmade products made by them at the daycare centres. Read more about Sindhu’s effort. 

 

 

 

Soni Maharjan is one of the changemakers of EmpowHER 2018. Her project, Work Together focuses on the theme of Be empowered and Be Yourself. The project aims to work with 30 students of 7 Schools from Bhaktapur, Kathmandu, Dhading and Patan. After the project the students will be able to take their own decision and have better problem solving skills. 

 

Sumi Limbu is one of the changemakers of EmpowHER 2018. Her project, Sakhi aims to create awareness among 30 young girls and boys of age between 10-15 at a time in 8 different schools about menstruation through awareness campaign, comic book and by forming school clubs where girls and boys can openly speak about it and can get information at right age and right time. Sushmita Dahal is one of the changemakers of EmpowHER 2018. Her project, Sparsh aims on awaring 15-20 women from age group 14-25 of Narayantar about sexual harassment and how to defend themselves from it through different awareness and self-defense training programs.

 

 

Sabitri Poudel is one of the changemakers of EmpowHER 2018. Her project, Samlagna is a women empowerment project which aims to provide braille and assistive devices training to illiterate, visually impaired women and women who have recently lost their eyesight in groups of 15 in Kathmandu Valley every one and half month. Taniya Subba is one of the changemakers of EmpowHER 2018. Her project, UDAAN aims to train 6 Women from semi-urban community from Budhanilkantha to help them on their way to create self-reliant society through their own skills by making and selling reusable biodegradable sanitary pads. Tsering Dolma Tamang is one of the changemakers of EmpowHER 2018. Her project is Happy Learning Center for children living with cancer is a project which aims to accommodate 26 children at once to read, write and play. This is a concept of a school in a hospital’s ward where the children will be learning in both formal and non formal way, where they can learn singing, dancing, arts and crafts and will be engaged in these activities.
