Ujyalo Foundation was established in 2014 with a vision to enhance the number of women in decision making roles. Ujyalo Foundation is the only leadership and idea incubation institution for women that caters to a wide range of age group from 12 years and above.

The Communications Officer will directly work with the Executive Director and the Director of Operations to strengthen and enhance internal and external communication of the organization. The Officer will produce reports, newsletters, and other communication tools to share Foundation’s work and impact in the most creative and innovative way. The Officer will also use multi-media tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and others to create and manage communication portfolio of the organization. The ideal candidate for this position is an individual who is creative, innovative, and has adept written skills to convey the work of the Foundation with simplicity to a wider audience.
Reports to: Executive Director
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core: The Communications Officer will manage the following communications aspect of the organization both internal and external.
Communication strategy and guidelines
- Plan, conceptualize and develop various communication strategies and guidelines suitable for the organization.
- Maintain transparent and accountable communcation internally and externally with the programs, impact and outcomes for each program and event.
Social Media Management
- Oversee the organization’s social media management that incorporates the websites, Facebook pages, groups, blog pages.
- Periodic review and reflection to bring new flavors in the contents.
- Represent the Foundation on social media platform.
Public Relations
- Explore ways to maintain external communication with various stakeholders relating to the works of Ujyalo Foundation.
- Strengthen existing and new networks.
- Liase with external vendors to produce standarized media materials such as booklets, videos, flyers, brochures, and other informational material used for communications and visibility.
Knowledge Production Materials and Documentation
- Development of organizational documents and help in the organizational branding in line with the vision, mission, goals and objectives of Ujyalo Foundation.
- Support in the maintenance of core content as part of digital strategy and maintain digital asset database.
- Coordinate with the program team in the content generation for the website such as blogs, stories, case studies, reports and so on.
- Involve in the email marketing such as production of newsletters, quarterly reports, annual reports and impact reports.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Monitor and report on communications performance metrics and personal objectives regularly.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION
- Bachelors in Mass Communication and Journalism, Marketing, Communication, or equivalent field.
- At least 1 year of experience in the field of communications with experiences.
- Excellent communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Proficient in both English and Nepali (both verbal and written).
- Ability to follow instructions and effectively communicate ideas and findings.
- Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assessments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite Office, social media use, Adobe Photoshop or any other design software.
- Passion for communication, attention to details.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team based environment.
- Demonstrate willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Driving License holder a plus.

A two year renewal contract with a competitive compensation and benefit commensurate with experience and skills is offered. The application will be reviewed by the second week of the August, and the position is to start from the 17th of September, 2018.
