Ujyalo Foundation was established in 2014 with a vision to enhance the number of women in decision making roles. Ujyalo Foundation is the only leadership and idea incubation institution for women that caters to a wide range of age group from 12 years and above.

The Director of Operations will report to the Executive Director and sit on the Senior Leadership Team to build and enhance the needed infrastructure for the growth and expansion of the organization in the next five years. The director will oversee finance, operations, legal and HR to ensure smooth and efficient management of a growing team. The director will also innovate ideas and structures to enhance sustainability of the organization, it’s programs, ideas, and values. The ideal candidate for the position is an individual who has a go-getter attitude with strong knowledge on finance, operations, and human resource, and who can align with the vision of the Foundation to create a gender just world!
Reports to: Executive Director
Roles and Responsibilities:
Core: The individual recruited for this position will manage all three aspects: Finance, Operations and Human Resource(HR).
Finance:
- Create and manage procurement of needed materials based on both organizational needs and project needs. Deal with various community stakeholders (existing and new) based on the need and requirement of the programs/projects and the organization. This includes the procurement process that has been followed in the Foundation.
- Oversee the financial related reports extracted from the software apart from Petty Cash Management.
- Manage internal and external purchase orders.
- Track and ensure recurrent expenditures and program related expenses like payroll, rent and utilities are timely paid. Also, periodically check the credit status of vendors and accordingly make the payments too.
- Track and ensure recurrent expenditures and program related expenses are on timely manner.
- Lead and maintain banking related matters as per need.
- Prepare annual audit and be a liaison with all outside vendor.
- Manage and oversee annual financial budget.
Operations:
- Monitor and manage the overall operations of the organization based on Human Resources, finance, and legal aspects.
- Plan, oversee and arrange program-based logistics for smooth and efficient operations.
- Develop, maintain and monitor all fundraising and accounting systems and procedures capturing all pledges, billings and receipts and for the recording of all revenue transactions, recommend and implement improvements to systems
- Manage grantor contracts and maintain archival and administrative files
- Assist and lead the fundraising related activity conducted by the Foundation with the Development Director.
Human Resource (HR):
- Oversee and monitor HR to ensure enabling environment of all team member’s growth and development.
- Recruit and interview new team members as per need.
- Monitor the reports related to Human Resource that includes daily biometric attendance, leaves, trainings and so on. Be receptive to new approaches to report preparations to be shared to senior management team.
Team Supervision and Management:
- Responsible to initiate and conduct team development related activities.
- Supervise the Admin, Finance and Operations unit.
- Become the focal person for orienting new team members in the organization and conduct orientation as per the organization’s process.
- Manage each team member’s leadership development portfolio.
- Liaise with the legal advisor to strengthen organizational structures.
- Represent on behalf of the organization to the donor agencies.
- Regular interaction with the various program team members to smoothen the internal operations including the introduction of creative approaches for team members’ well being in the organization.
- Work based on the need and requirement of the Ujyalo Team.
Communication and Documentation
- Communication with all levels of employees (from volunteer/intern to Executive Director including Nepal Board of Directors).
- Provide strategic ways to ease the overall operations of the organization to the management.
- Ensure strong and timely documentation from human resource to finance and logistical aspects.
- Work based in the organizational needs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION
- Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible professional work experiences in management, and at least a 2 year of experience leading a team.
- Master’s degree in a related field of Business Administration, Management or equivalent.
- Familiarity with and a supportive attitude towards processes of institutional strengthening.
- Excellent communications skills and proficient in English and Nepali (both written and verbal).
- High integrity, self- starter, and thriving to achieve excellence.
- Keen analytical skills, solution oriented and problem solving skills to have sound decision making skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical skills, and solution oriented.
- Team player who is not afraid to work independently.
